Every year, ISA Certified Arborists from the PlantAmnesty Tree Committee and Referral Service celebrate Arbor Day by volunteering their time, equipment, and expertise at a local park or non-profit property. This year’s property was none other than the future home of Seattle’s newest park on the Bullitt Estate on Capitol Hill, coincidentally, also the home of the Cass Turnbull Garden.
Seattle Parks and Recreation Department requested the help of PlantAmnesty arborists in the removal of a number of very large, very dead American Elm trees that were infested with the bark beetles that carry Dutch Elm Disease. Thirteen companies represented by 26 arborists responded to the call. A total of three large elms and a grove of smaller elms which had succumbed to Dutch Elm Disease were taken down over the course of seven hours on Friday, April 29. Approximately $30,000 worth of work was performed to help make this new park safe for visitors and hospitable to future tree plantings.
Thank you to the ISA Certified Arborists who provided this amazing work:

Seventeen certified arborists from eight companies volunteered their time and skills on April 16 to clean up the majestic trees at Rhody Ridge Arboretum in Bothell. These professionals spent a full day climbing, limbing, chopping, and cleaning up these wonderful old trees in this unique, 11-acre, botanical park. Their work exemplifies PlantAmnesty’s commitment to preserving urban greenspaces and community:
