2019 NORTHWEST FLOWER AND GARDEN FESTIVAL

2018 Flower and Garden Festival

When: Wednesday, February 20 - Sunday, February 24, 2019

Where:  Washington State Convention Center

It's one of the biggest horticultural events of the year and PlantAmnesty will be there to continue to spread the word about our mission and help educate our community about proper pruning. We hope you'll stop by our booth to learn more about what we've been up or consider volunteering to help us spread the good word!

Laura Watson, the ultimate Clemaniac (and PA Board Member, Master Gardener and Master Pruner) will be discussing her favorite vine at the Festival this year on Saturday, February 23 at 6:45 PM. You can view more about the event and speakers here .

Volunteers will receive an all day pass to the event for representing PlantAmnesty and helping us get new members. We're continually working on educating the growing public about why pruning is more important than just an aesthetic or a view. If you are interested in volunteering, please e-mail Michelle Rau at [email protected] with the following information:

  • Which day(s) you can volunteer in order of preference
  • Times that you can volunteer ( shifts available 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. / 12 p.m. - 3 p.m. / 3 p.m. - 6 p.m. / 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. (except Sunday)
  • E-mail address and phone number
  • Is this your first time volunteering at a boothing event (and would you like to attend volunteer training before the show?)

Volunteering or not, we hope to see you there!

City Fruit Master Fruit Tree Steward Program

Calling all fruit tree enthusiasts! City Fruit is now accepting applications for the 2019 Master Fruit Tree Steward (MFTS) Program.  If you love fruit trees and want to be able to better care for fruit trees in your own backyard, at a neighbor's house, or in public orchards to help preserve Seattle's urban fruit canopy, then this program is for you!

There will be a total of 6 hands-on workshops that combine both classroom and urban orchard experiences to gain skills in identifying, planting, pruning, harvesting and sharing fruit from local fruit trees. The instruction fee is $250 plus a $45 material fee. The program is limited to 16 students so fill out your application soon! The registration will close on November 30.
