Executive Director Job Description
(Reports to the Board of Directors)
PlantAmnesty Executive Director Job Summary and Application Instructions
This is a part-time position, 25-30 hours per week. Annual salary is $38,000-
$40,000 DOE. Incumbent is eligible for a one-week paid vacation after six
months and a successful evaluation. After one year, annual paid vacation time
increases to two weeks.

Responsibilities:
Fiscal Management
*Oversees the organization’s finances, financial health, and works with the Finance Committee
to prepare the annual budget.
*Identifies fundraising opportunities and works with staff and volunteers to implement these
events.
*Provides leadership and accountability for achieving annual fundraising goals.
*Prioritizes identifying and obtaining grants to support PlantAmnesty’s mission and programs.
*Participates in the Finance Committee.
Strategic Direction
*Works collaboratively with the Board of Directors to develop and implement the strategic
direction of the organization.
*Organizes and attends annual, day-long Board Retreat to discuss goal-setting.
*Ensures PlantAmnesty’s values are held in esteem by all Board members, committees,
staff, and all referral gardeners and arborists.
*Works with staff to identify areas of improvement and streamline PlantAmnesty’s business
and office practices.
Leadership/Operational Management
*In collaboration with the Board, hires and manages paid staff.
*Ensures the completion of tasks and projects.
*Holds annual staff evaluations.
*Ensures all necessary policies and procedures are up to date and followed.
*Ensures all changes and updates to organization policies and procedures are documented
and retained.
*Keeps apprised of and addresses the needs and concerns of the staff and members and
brings unresolved and/or substantial issues to the Board.
Community Relations and Engagement
*Actively serves as the face of PlantAmnesty in interfacing with the public, attending and
presenting at fundraisers and other special events, and cultivates/maintains relationships with
members, partner organizations, and agencies.
*Fosters a culture of inclusivity by engaging diverse individuals, cultures, and community
partners.
*Ensures strong presence for PlantAmnesty in online and print communications.
*Contributes to, and helps edit, quarterly newsletters.
*Works with paid staff to compile data and write Annual Reports
Member Relations
*Works with the Board and committees to develop innovative programs and events.
*Identifies and attracts new potential members.
*Personally acknowledges members and individuals who go above and beyond to support
PlantAmnesty and community partnerships through significant volunteer service and/or
financial donations.
