March Webinar: The values of public parks, exemplified by the Cass Turnbull Garden

March 16, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm PDT

Free

Join Daniel Winterbottom, Professor of Landscape Architecture at the University of Washington, as he describes the contributions that he and his students are making to the creation of the Cass Turnbull Garden, including their design for the southern section of the garden, and their installation of key features in the garden’s north section. In each of his design-build projects both locally and internationally, Daniel is intent on conveying meaning through design, materials and the use of space.  He will also discuss public parks and how they are evolving to address critical issues of our times and respond to the ecological, social, political needs of the community and reflect the histories and memories imbued in place.  In his presentation, he will illustrate how those principles and that of community involvement/participation are demonstrated in his work with PlantAmnesty, the Bullitt family, and Seattle Parks and Recreation in the creation of the garden to honor Cass.

Please note that we are extending a special invitation to neighbors of the garden to inform them and to seek their support for the garden.  We are inviting them to attend at no cost, and of course want to extend the same courtesy to other attendees as well.  Registrants who previously paid for tickets will be notified of this change and will be issued refunds.
