Tree Pruning I
March 14, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm PDT
$15.00 – $20.00Pruning trees makes sense when you understand the science behind it. You will be introduced to the basics of tree biology, including apical dominance and tree responses to wounding (development of callus and woundwood, as well as compartmentalization of decay). Tree structure is covered, with discussion of branch attachments, codominant stems and included bark. Proper pruning cuts are explained in detail, including how to safely remove large limbs, correctly reduce branch length, and encourage branching when appropriate. Current ANSI tree pruning standards and best management practices are also reviewed.
This class will be recorded and available for viewing by registrants for 2 weeks following the class date.
