How do you perceive and remember colors? How do you apply your sense of colors in gardening?
Lorene Edwards Forkner, a local author, columnist, gardener, and designer, has developed a system that helps her better see and understand colors and color relationships. Join us at a special fundraising event to learn more about her process and get some hands-on experience with her process!
In this workshop, Lorene will talk about color, its role in a pleasing landscape, and how her daily practice has introduced an expansiveness to the way she views the world. Following her introduction, you will use watercolors (provided with registration) to record colors found in various plant materials. As you develop a better understanding of how you perceive and process color, you may see plants and plantings with different eyes. Lorene describes her process in her recent book, Color In and Out of the Garden (https://ahandmadegarden.com/books).
As part of our event at the stunning Dunn Gardens in northwest Seattle, we will offer a Happy Hour 4 – 5 pm, followed by time to explore the grounds, with docents available to talk about the Gardens and the plantings. We will also hold a silent auction with some fabulous plants, gardening tools, books, and other popular items. We will accept cash, checks, and credit cards for auction payments. Lorene’s recent book will also be available for sale during the event.
Lorene’s introduction for the workshop will begin at 6 pm, so plan to be on site and ready to learn and practice by 6 at the latest!
Come explore the beauty of the Dunn Gardens and learn some tools to develop a new understanding of color.
We look forward to seeing you at this special fundraising event for PlantAmnesty.
