Meeting of Like Minds — Lorene Edwards Forkner: Seeing Color in the Garden

June 15, 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm PDT

Free – $10.00

Due to overwhelming feedback from our community, this Meeting of Like Minds will be held as a Zoom event.

Please note that this MOLM is on a Wednesday evening, not on our usual Tuesday.

Lorene Edwards Forkner is a Seattle-based gardener, columnist, painter, speaker, and book author.  At our MOLM, your eyes and brain will be opened up to how she sees and uses color in the garden.

On August 23, you will have an opportunity to develop your own color vision at a Sip and Paint Workshop with Lorene, to be held at the Dunn Gardens.

In Lorene’s words, “Color is one of nature’s most sophisticated tools engineered to capture the attention of all living creatures. Learn how to hone your perception, discover hidden hues, and cultivate an expansive view of the world around you. Color is powerful and delightful.”

Online ticket sales will end at 7:00 pm on the evening of the event.  We will hold a short Zoom auction for garden- and plant-related items prior to our presentation.  Please see below for a partial list of auction items — more items will be added as they are brought in through donations.
We also encourage you to check out Lorene’s website (below in her bio), where her books are available for sale.

Bio: Lorene Edwards Forkner is an author and speaker whose work centers on exploring the wonders of the natural world. She writes a weekly gardening column for the Seattle Times and is the author of numerous gardening titles, including ‘The Beginner’s Guide to Growing Great Vegetables’ (Timber 2021) and the recently released ‘Color In and Out of the Garden’ (Abrams, 2022). Lorene is a warm and engaging speaker who uses imagery and language to tell garden/life stories that inspire and inform audiences. Find her online at ahandmadegarden.com.

We wish to thank the Events Committee for their involvement in bringing you this exceptional evening.

Auction items: 2+ 1g hostas; garden plaques; custom fine art landscape photo prints; and additional plants and books yet to be specified
