What is the Bird-Friendly Landscape? Beginning in late 2007, teams of community volunteers began removing hundreds of invasive plants by hand from the 3000 sq. ft. planting bed directly in front of the Community Center. The existing trees and many of the shrubs were preserved on the site, and all began to thrive once they were free from the choking thicket. Then in 2008, volunteers began adding hundreds of native under-story plants that provide food, shelter, and nesting places for birds. They also built a solar-powered water feature, nest boxes, and a seating area for the garden. The result is a beautiful oasis for birds and birdwatchers alike!
