About the Festival

The people of Seattle love their trees. But there’s a lot to know ---

What is the right tree to plant? Who do you talk to if you have tree trouble? How do you garden ecologically?

We’ll celebrate Seattle’s trees with a day entertainment and learning. There is something for every one: gardeners, students, kids, mothers, apartment dwellers and crazy old coots.

Fighting Instruments

The New Old Time Chautauqua will offer whimsy and humor through music, juggling, magic, aerial, acrobatics and comedy.

Ciscoe Morris and other famous garden authors will give talks indoors. And we’ve got classes on a wide variety of tree and ‘green’ topics: fruit tree culture, habitat for wildlife, native trees and plants and lots of kid-stuff too. Take an on-site tour of the pea-patch, of the
native plant garden or the children’s garden.

And for the brave-there are bucket truck rides and big tree climbing.

See our live ‘tree’ demonstrations-- how to plant, prune and move trees. Other folks will demonstrate eco-friendly living-- everything from compost bins and rain barrels, to goats that eat your weeds and city chickens to liven up your back yard.

Our eco-friendly vendors will be there with ‘healthy’ food, as well as crafts and home products that you can feel good about.

And the best part is--admission is free!
