This is the science and biology behind the pruning of trees. Bess Bronstein, honored hort teacher from Edmonds Community College, will give us the inside story on how trees grow and survive to become the longest-lived, most massive species on the planet. Famous arboriculturalist, Dr. Alex Shigo, taught us that all pruning wounds trees. Find out how to minimize that damage and work with the tree’s natural defenses. Students will gain an understanding of compartmentalization, included bark, branch collar identification, and more.
